Walnut
A centre board from a truly once in a lifetime tree. This huge rare Scottish Walnut board is wide, long and flat. It contains a large branch inclusion where the tree was pruned decades ago and had since grown back around it, only to be revealed again after being milled by us. At the top of the board there is a small crotch with some stunning grain figure and several small shake cracks giving ample opportunity for bowtie/butterfly inlays. The grain flow throughout the board is stunning with distinct colours following the grain. Naturally, being a huge centre board, this board does have a large central split where the heart has some areas of decay but the timber available either side of the crack is considerable.
